PAINT IT WHITE

Paint it White 2013 Size: 200x150 cm Material: Photographic print Circulation of 5

The world is about adding and subtraction. Transformation.

Petro Wodkins was walking the streets one early spring day.

He saw this car.

An ugly black BMW. Then he saw the people passing it. Beautiful people. Even the persons in the car were beautiful, maybe not the driver so much, but the person sitting on the passenger seat. And the street was beautiful. He wanted it all to come together. He wanted to paint it all white. He bought the ugly car, stopped the people and invited them to become white. Now the car and the people are as beautiful.

Then he made this song.

Paint it White I see a red door and I want it painted white No colors anymore I want them to turn white I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes I have to turn my head until my whiteness goes I see a line of cars and they all painted white With flowers and my love, are coming here tonite I see people turn their heads and quickly look away Like a newborn baby it just happens ev’ryday I look inside myself and see my heart is white I see my red door and it has been painted white Maybe then I’ll fade away and not have to face the facts It's not easy facing up when your whole world is white I wanna see it painted white, painted white White as snow, White as salt I wanna see the sun, blotted out from the sky I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted white

Lyrics by Mick Jagger
